of late: movies, lusts, career pursuits

while i was fully intending to re-post cool design-related links, i'm feeling a bit unmotivated now that i'm here...making pathetic meals of soup stock, hakusai (chinese cabbage), mochi, and umeshu (plum liquor). le sigh.

however, if you ARE looking for some pick me ups you can do any of the pre-tested following:

1) watch: despicable me, up, tangled, julie&julia, kokuhaku (confessions-- award winner at cannes; it's about a middle school teacher whose daughter has been killed [at the hands of students in her homeroom] and her revenge--it's intense. but i'd definitely recommend it)

--on that note- okuribito (about a man who mistakenly ends up becoming an undertaker- academy award winner)

2) make chai tea- milk, black tea, cinnamon, cloves, peppercorn, cardamom, nutmeg-- just put a bit of each in a pan, bring to a boil, simmer for about 5-7 minutes, let it sit for another 3-5 minutes, pour into your mug, add honey to taste. sip your little bit of heaven.

3) relax/spend time with friends somewhere with a nice view. seriously. taking time to foster human connections and appreciate what's around us...that's what it's all about.

--- still contemplating THE FUTURE but idk...denial/optimism? i still feel like it'll all fall into place somehow.

4) lusting over fabrics, design blogs, organic/healthful food entrepreneurial endeavors of others.

currently obsessed with: bento bako (boxes), interestingly designed hashi (chopsticks), furoshiki (fabric to wrap bentos/gifts/etc in), shibori (traditional Japanese tie-dye-esque fabric), tenugui (printed rectangular thin cotton fabric used as decoration/handtowels/etc), traditional Japanese toys...are you seeing a theme here? photos to come.

not that anyone really cares BUT for the sake of looking back at this when i finally set upon a direction in life and laugh at my previous indecisiveness/confusion....i'm thinking about career/life pursuits- contenders/semi-far-fetched day dreams: career counselor, education-field related (so broad/vague), magazine design, interior design, cafe owner, environment-related...//kind of on that tangent-- working to improve communities through environmental improvements//community gardens//better allocation of resources (dai- you & your involvement with the TAP project inspire me ^^), health/nutrition-related. a job with an international aspect would also be nice although there is admittedly a lot of effed up shite that needs fixing in the U.S. & on the flip side, a lot of diversity in terms of people/culture/etc. just within the U.S. alone.

so there. here are the things i'm interested in. let's see if i can hash through it all and find a suitable career/field i'm passionate about. ^^ cross those fingers/toes for me...whoever YOU are!
