art that makes me smile

some photos for you.

side note: love finding art in unexpected places.

side note numero 2: my friend (who studied abroad in Scotland at the Glasgow School of Art) did a project involving public art and the "banal" & "anti-social" space that is the subway. You can find her post and some photos of her project here. I similarly have found trains and other methods of public transportation very interesting spaces, especially since coming to Japan and having to rely extensively on it as my primary source of commuting.

[sensitive teeth and shameless one-liners]

Actually, in general, the types of behavior that are deemed socially appropriate in various contexts is one which I find intriguing. example: hiking. everyone's all friendly and you exchange greetings and words of encouragement along the way. this doesn't usually happen in everyday life in which most people either smile shyly, look down/away, or pretend to be thoroughly engrossed in reading/writing a text or changing their ipod's song/volume level (come on now- i know you've all done this!). those are just some random thoughts of the day.
